PSI and Bar, what’s the difference?

Pipes that we see in our daily life, such as in water supply system, drainage system, and factories have different pressure durability according to their uses, for example, joints and pressure gauge.

Hoses, pipes, and other equipments vary in standards and measuring units. As for pressure, the common units are psi and bar, which have the relation of 1 bar = 14.5 psi.

ORBIT clamps use the British standard unit, bar. Here’s the example of how to convert bar to psi and vice versa:

Example 1:   5-bar clamp

                        5 bar x 14.5 = 72.5 psi

Example 2:   100-psi clamp

                        100 psi / 14.5 = 6.89 bar
