To choose correct type of hose clips, user can consider 5 factors as follow: (S.T.A.M.P.)
S (size) ID/ OD/ Hose thickness
T (temperature) Min Max working Temperature
A (application) Indoor/ Outdoor/ Type of hose
M (material) Hose material
P (pressure) Working Pressure/ Burst pressure

  • Choose hose with ID smaller than pipe fitting OD. When hose is fitted into the pipe, hose ID should expand to fit the pipe properly and hose clip will be used to tight the connection as in the picture. Recommended hose thickness should be around 3-4 mm.

  • Choose the right hose clips diameter. If hose clip’s size is too big compare to hose’s OD, protrude part will be too long and not only it could cause accident, but it could also leak due to improper installation too. Please avoid installing bigger hose clips to a much smaller pipe.

  • It is best to use hose-to-pipe connector, hose nipple or hose barb with hose. Avoid installing hose to a cut pipe with smooth surface which will provide low pull-off force.

  • Consider installing 2 hose clips for critical application if space provided.

  • Install hose clips in the middle of hose fitting with about ¼ inch space from hose edge.

  • For thick wall hose or hose will high shore hardness, please consider using heavy duty hose clamp instead.

  • Choose proper installation tool with 7 mm hexagon screw head and tightening within recommend tightening torque to avoid damage hose or hose connector. ORBIT Flexi screw driver is recommended for narrow space install
